Whether you go mini, above the knee, midi, or maxi, skirts are an easy choice for any summer ensemble.

The mini skirt is arguably the hottest trending skirt style for the summer but if mini skirts aren’t your thing then you came to the right place.

This post will give you some more modest outfit inspiration with maxi, midi, and above-the-knee skirt styling tips for summer.

Denim Pencil Skirt + Statement Blouse

Balance a slim and sleek denim pencil skirt with a statement shirt such as a fuchsia pussy-bow blouse.

I’m personally a bit gaga over all things pink these days but the great thing about a jean skirt is that you can pair it with any color of top.

Style it with any of the hottest colors of the season (pinks, greens, or purples) for a fresh and vibrant look.

Exaggerated proportions are a continuing trend so choose a shirt that also has some volume such as one with short balloon sleeves or an XL collar. Both work beautifully with a tight-fitting skirt.

And if pink is your thing too, give my How to Master the Barbiecore Trend post a read for more pink styling tips. 💗

Pleated Midi Skirt + Graphic T-shirt + Trekking Sandals

Go high-low styling by pairing a glamorously frilly pleated midi skirt with a graphic tee and sporty trekking sandals.

Chunky-soled sandals are especially popular this season and look up-to-date when worn with a pleated midi skirt in an in-your-face shade.

If the weather turns a bit cooler, no worries as socks (especially white sports ones) and sandals are always welcomed.

If your outfit needs an injection of joy you can never go wrong with sunshine yellow. Bright colors are having a moment 🙌 so don’t hesitate to break out that canary yellow skirt to not only ride the trend but also to lift your spirits.

Plissé Maxi Skirt + Casual T-Shirt + Heeled Sandals

Lilac has been trending for ages (at least in fashion time) with no signs of relenting so I’d say you’re safe to add even more lavender-colored clothing to your wardrobe.

The best piece to start with might be a maxi skirt that can take you from spring to summer to fall with some clever layering. Check out my post on Layering Tricks for some neat tips.

A colored skirt might seem like a risky buy but it can actually be almost as versatile as a neutral-toned one if you’re not afraid of a bit of color play.

Lilac looks beautiful with grey, white, and black but it pairs equally well with postbox red (styled here), bubblegum pink, and buttercup (seen in this post) or saffron yellow.

Final Thoughts

There’s a skirt length for all types of summer temperatures, whether you’re in Dubai, London, or San Francisco and they’re all equally easy to style not to mention they travel well.

Regardless of whether you’re off to an exotic location or are staying close to home these looks should help you beat the heat in style.
