How to Wear a Blazer With Jeans Like Katie Holmes
The easiest way to add feminine elegance to a pair of jeans is by wearing them with a blazer and heels. To make the blazer the centerpiece of these outfits, I paired them with classic blue bootcut jeans and a white button-up shirt a style often sported by the ultra-fashionable and iconic Katie Holmes.
I added a little punch to the looks with leopard print heels (which can act as a neutral while also adding a fun and playful vibe) and timeless Stella McCartney pocketbooks. With six different style blazers to choose from, there’s a version to fit everyone’s tastes.
Ochre-Brown Double-Breasted ’70s Style Blazer
First up is a ’70s style double-breasted blazer. While the double-breasted blazer is straight from the ’80s, this orangey-brown color is classic ’70s. This vintage blazer is completely on-trend yet totally ready for that business meeting.
I like to think of it as a ’70s chic style for when you wish to feel powerful. That boost of power and confidence is thanks to its slightly cropped style that’s not only slimming but can also make you appear taller, especially when paired with straight-leg or bootcut jeans.

Equestrian Style Blazer
Next, we have a tweed-like (this is actually 100% linen) equestrian style single-breasted blazer. Equestrian-inspired fashion is a timeless trend and by pairing it with other classic pieces you’ll have a look that will last you through the years. This blazer would also work well with baggy jeans tucked into riding or cowboy boots.

Menswear-Inspired Schoolboy Blazer
The next two looks are all about classic blazers with a twist. First, we have a slightly oversized and boxy schoolboy’s blazer. This boyish blazer gives a masculine vibe to the outfit while still remaining classy and professional. This is the ideal look to bring you from work to play and a quick swap from heels into sneakers would give your look major Princess Diana vibes.

Fitted Dark Denim Blazer
The other version of a timeless blazer with an unexpected element is a feminine and fitted dark wash jean blazer. Despite being raw denim, this jean blazer is still completely work-appropriate due to its tailored fit and almost black color, which from a distance some might even mistake as being a classic black blazer. Little will people know you’re really rocking double-denim. 🙃 I won’t tell if you don’t.

Orange Sherbet Corduroy Blazer
Lastly, I highlight two pastel-colored blazers. The first is a lovely orange sherbet color, which is an ideal shade for spring, and has a Manchester cord texture that offers a bit of luxuriousness. It also looks really rich paired with dark denim and by wearing it you instantly add some spring cheer to your day, regardless of the season in which you’re wearing it.
An easy tip to be able to wear pastel shades year-round is to simply style them with darker colored items (such as indigo jeans). I show you another example of how to style pastels for the fall and winter in my post about The Coolest Vegan Leather Combat Boots.

Baby Blue & White Chanel-like Checked Blazer
The final blazer is a pale blue and white checkered one. It’s subtle, classy, and chic, which makes it a good choice for when you want to look put together without making too much of a splash. It also looks so rich paired with a cognac pocketbook.
This is a prime example of how easy it is to put together a Chanel-esque look with preloved pieces (read: you can still make the rent after buying them) and without sacrificing style.

Final Thoughts
As I’ve shown throughout these outfits, you can have a completely different look and style simply by changing up the blazer. Regardless of the color or style, blazers are great because they always add a chic element to elevate any outfit, a classic blazer never goes out of season, and their styling is so versatile, which makes it easy to wear them year-round.
Pumps and jeans not your thing? These styles would also all look super chic if you made them more casual by switching the heels for any of the white sneakers I featured in my 3 White Vegan Sneakers post and by adding the hottest new accessory: the baseball cap. If you needed further convincing, the outfits would then be reminiscent of this look from the Celine spring 2021 runway show.
