Pink is always in style but this year it’s especially popular. If you add a little pink or a lot it can quickly cheer up any outfit and it doesn’t always necessarily mean you have to wear a girly look.

Whether you’re working with a single pink item such as a skirt, dress, or trousers or would prefer a full-on pink explosion, keep reading for some fun style ideas and tricks to fearlessly add more pink into your closet and embrace a little Barbiecore.

Bubblegum Pink Dress + Snow Leopard Print Scarf

I love the urban chic vibes of this vintage bubblegum pink dress with army-style detailing. To glam up this casual dress, so it’s more work-appropriate, I chose to style it with dainty heeled sandals.

If you’re headed somewhere more casual, such as out shopping or to lunch with friends, it would also look great with white tennis shoes or even rugged chunky-soled boots (to play off the military vibe).

My Hottest Chunky White Vegan Boots of the Season, 3 White Vegan Sneakers, and Coolest Vegan Leather Combat Boots blogs should provide some inspiration if you’re still searching for good vegan shoe alternatives.

This dress also has a bit of an urban safari feel so I selected a long snow leopard print scarf and tied it into a bow around my neck. Using a scarf in this way is a clever trick to soften the pink.

If bubblegum pink is a bit harsh against your complexion you can tie a silk-free scarf around your neck to create a buffer between your face and the garment. Choose a scarf in a color that compliments your skin tone and use your favorite method of tying or simply tie it into a bow as I’ve done.

Adding rose-framed sunglasses offers an additional dollop of chicness.

Glamorized Urban Safari | Khaki Safari Shirt + Barbie Pink Slacks

Without realizing it, these looks all have a bit of an urban safari feel to them, which I’m not sad about. And what better color to breathe some life into listless safari shades than barbie pink. It doesn’t get much more Barbiecore than rocking barbie pink.

A men’s khaki safari shirt does a good job of toning down the vibrancy of these bright trousers.

The tip here is that you can always water down an overpowering shade by adding some neutral or almost neutral colors. Grey, black, white, navy, or khaki would all work equally well to subdue hot pink or any other dominant color.

Fuchsia Pink Shorts + Zebra Print Jacket + Hot Pink Retro Sneakers

I always loved pink as a child but it wasn’t until recently that I started to gravitate towards the color again. While it’s no longer my favorite color, wearing it does bring a smile to my face, and it’s hard not to feel happy when sporting this many shades of pink.

If you’re not afraid of some color, why not pair fuchsia with ballet slipper pink, watermelon pink, or hot pink.

If you’re feeling especially adventurous styling them all in one look is equally possible.

One thing to note when styling pink is that when it’s combined with prints and patterns it takes on a more girly feel than when it’s a solid shade.

If that’s the vibe you’re going for, than seek out pink-patterned pieces (such as pink gingham or rose-toned animal prints) that are especially common in girl’s clothing and which might evoke some childhood nostalgia.

For a more sophisticated approach to these shades, stick to pieces that are uniformly pink. Richer shades, like magenta, fuchsia, and hot pink, also tend to feel more adult.

Final Thoughts

Whatever your level of love for pink, there’s no doubt you can incorporate some of this cheerful shade into your outfits. Even if in only a small amount by way of a neon pink purse or rose-framed sunglasses it’s sure to add some joy to your day.
